Saving lives by providing HIV care to migrant and refugee families in Botswana
Who we Serve
Fleeing hunger, extreme poverty, or political oppression, migrant families come to Botswana for a better life, but are dying because they cannot afford HIV/AIDS medicines.
While these medicines are free for citizens, many do not qualify. Even a child whose father is a citizen cannot get care if the mother is not.
Who we Are
As doctors and other health workers helping the sick in the hospital wards of Gaborone, Botswana, we could not stand by while children died for lack of medicine - medicines that sat in the room next door. So we started The Maipelo Trust, a foundation to provide medicines and supplies to help people coming from Zimbabwe, Malawi, or the Democratic Republic of Congo.
We share the belief that all people, regardless of their nationality,
deserve medical care and access to life-saving medications, and we hope
that you join us in supporting our work. Your generous support will help us save lives.
Laboratory tests to ensure that the treatment is working, and
Medications to prevent mothers transmitting HIV to their babies through pregnancy and delivery
This is an opportunity to make a substantial difference in a child’s, mother’s or father’s life. Even after a few weeks of treatment, patients are in less pain and suffering, and gain substantial weight and strength.Learn more about donating today>>
